Pro Silva Exemplary Forests

Guidelines for Presenting

Principles

Only the best forest should be presented on ProSilva Europe Homepage as visit card of ProSilva best silvicultural skills and practices. Decision about applicability through the respective national boards (no direct application will be accepted). Application addressed to the ProSilva Board on behalf of the chairman: chairperson@prosilvaeurope.org, copy to webmaster@prosilvaeurope.org. For aptitude use the check list after Otto (see below). Please don't present too many candidatures but only the best ones. As general rule there shouldn't be more than 5 per country, or up to 10-15 for big countries.

General conditions

A exemplary forest has enough area to ensure an autonomous forest enterprise (from some 100 ha to some 1000 ha) forest development as well as economic results should be documented.
Perfect appliance to ProSilva principles according to Otto's checklist for principles.

Framework for presentations

The subsequent form aim to harmonize the presentation and the content of the dossier.

Principles:
Only a relative short overview will be visible on the home page at first glance. Therefore dossiers shouldn't exceed 2 to maximum 4 pages. Subsequent unlimited information could be presented (separately). This information is put behind, visible only for those interested in more information (hypertext link). Give therefore key words for hypertext links.

Minimal information:
1. Location: longitude and latitude so that the object could be located on the general map.
2. Summary of the exemplarity of the selected object (main character). No more than 10 lines. Should be focussed on essential elements.
Otherwise follow if possible disposition and content of the standard model form. Helpful could be the form A2 in Otto's checklist.
